Testing, testing... does this thing work?

Ho'kay... I figured it'd be only fair to publicly state (as if anybody didn't already know) that I'm officially retiring my blog here at Xanga.  After about 8 months of inactivity, I figure it's about time to let it go.  So, just for the record... I don't plan on updating this anymore in the foreseeable future.  If you want to still get in contact with me, friend me on Facebook, k?  That's where all the action is at, now!

Blarg!

Aw, blarg!  School has been getting a bit more hectic here at Lawrence Tech!  Pray for me... I'm fighting a cold of sorts right now and I've been really tired.  Speaking of which, Monday night I forgot to set my alarm so I woke up late on Tuesday and slept through most of my first class!!  Luckily for me, the teacher was just reviewing the exam that we took before break and since I got a 93% there wasn't too much that I had to review on.
Today (Wed) I've just been feeling like "ick."  I need to get my motivation up somehow.  I had a presentation in my "Media Communications" class that went really well.  My partner and I really weren't very well prepared but it went off well, anyway.  I just wonder how we'll get graded...  Tonight I also have a presentation for my Java class.  We're doing this big group class project and I'm giving a slide show on how we're integrating our oracle database into the overall project.  That's in about an hour.
Anywho, I guess that's about it for now.  I'll be going home again for Easter (yeah!) so that'll be fun.
Bai bai for now!

Pi Day!

Hey all!  I know I haven't blogged in forever but I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Pi Day!  To celebrate this great mathematical value, here's the first thousand digits of pi!

π = 3.

Oh, wow... This is just crazy!  Last Wednesday at about 12:15 pm, all the computers at LTU went down due to a massive computer virus that affected everyone who had the school's default computer image.  The only people who weren't affected were the people with Macs (duh!), the people who hadn't turned on their computers yet (and still haven't!), and the people who didn't have school laptops (like me!).  We're still not quite sure how this thing propagated but some people have hypothesized that it either got through via the school's domain, the schools common share folders, or through the common anti-virus software (Sophos) that everyone was given.  I personally think that it'd be hilarious if it was Sophos that spread it!  One funny thing someone told me is that when they saw people loosing all their data, the engineers were like "Oh... my computer just died." and all the architecture students were like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ALL MY STUFF THAT I'VE BEEN WORKING ON FOR THE LAST 6 WEEKS IS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!!!!!"  Heh, heh, heh... servers them right for not backing up...  (Just kidding!  This is a major catastrophe for the whole bunch of them.)  The school's just told us that they'll be trying to recover some of the data but I'm not sure how well they'll be able to do it.  Heh... either way, I'm not affected!  W00t!
Oh, I also started playing Command and Conquer 3.  It's a whole lot of fun!  yai!  I also got a copy of Age of Empires 3.  That one's fun, too!

Heh... so I haven't written in forever again.  My social life is kinda starting to move from the interwebs to real life interactions, heh.  Anyway, I still haven't started that job I at the Office of Admissions I talked about last post.  After 1 1/2 months of "paperwork" they still say that they have to get something approved before I can start.  What bunk!  I could have made a lot of money in that time if I had started working when they said I could or if I had taken another job for in between.  Groan!  Because of that, I'm a bit strapped for cash, now.  On the plus side, I just got in my new laptop last Saturday.  Yai!  It's a HP DV9000 and before you start going "HP? Yuck!" from what I've read, this one is a real winner of a model.

It's got a Intel Core 2 Duo 1.73 GHz chipset with 2 GB or RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 video card with 256MB dedicated memory, a 160 GB SATA hard drive, a LightScribe DVD/CD-RW, a build-in microphone and camera, 1 Gigabit ethernet port, 4 USB ports, an HDMI out port, a SVideo out port, and a multi-media port.  Oooh, it also has this neat little remote control.  The one downside, so far, is that it came with Windows Vista and I've been having trouble getting XP installed.  For some reason my specific setup of a HP latop with a DVD burner trying to install WinXP with SP2 slipstreamed will always cause a read-error.  I guess for now I'm just gonna stick it out with Vista until I hit a major snag.

On a completely unrelated note, I've been getting a lot more involved with the Campus Crusade for Christ stuff on campus!  Next week is Fall Retreat, where we'll be gathering with a lot of the other colleges around the Detroit area and going up to Saginaw (I think it was) for a weekend of fellowship, training, and encouragement (and hopefully pie-ing our campus leader, if we get the most people there!!).  I went last year and it was really awesome!  I'll try to remember to post a note saying how it went.

One last thing before I finally hit "Submit"... As many of you prolly remember, this summer I went on a missions trip to Japan through CCC.  Now, by some coincidence (or do you think God, perhaps?) I have a Japanese international student dorming right next door and in two of my classes!  Coincidence?  I think not!  I've kinda taken it upon myself to try and befriend/witness to him over this semester.  He really doesn't seem interested in religion (like most Japanese) but I know that God can do amazing things.

Rhhhheeehh??  Have I really written that much already?  I really have to stop now and get on with my day.  I have some maths and other things due this afternoon that I have to work on.  I'll write y'all later!

-Russell

PS I've also moved a lot of my social stuffs to Facebook so if you haven't friend'd me on Facebook, yet, make sure to do so!
